Devlog 4: Sprint 1 Part 1

Hi there!

It's us again, the Fare Exchange development team.

We got greenlit by our teachers and were able to start actual development on the game. Time to throw away our test props, ugly blueprint code and start the project seriously.

Art

We got started on the most important things, the boat and the character. We made a block out of the boat, it is a new design so we need to test it's playability.

we also go started on the characters base mesh (with animations) these are already tested in engine! We have most of the basic animations, but more will be added along the way.

kind regards, the art team

Programming

We started on figuring out the C++ side of unreal and are trying to implement the base of the game and a game loop through code instead of blueprints. One of our programmers has been hard at work in order to add multiple characters being able to spawn in a level and have them move around with different controllers. The other programmer is not as experienced with unreal and is having a bumpy road but we will get there! There is nothing to show yet since we have to start from scratch but we are sure we will be able to show you something in the next Devlog along with a lot of new information!

Sound

We started experimenting with rfx placeholders for our artists, and we created a very cool magic smoke portal, some sparks and a trail/projectile aura.

What's next?

Due to technical difficulties we'll need to have some meetings and get everyone on the same track. We'll have the Easter break to figure out how everything will go. Once everyone can work on the project without any or too many problems we will be zooming and have lots of progress to show you guys!

Until next week!
